Jan Dong is intrigued by the composition of shapes and the integration of colour. Jan's technique involves the layering of colours to give a painting depth and energy. Jan's medium of choice is in acrylic while painting in an abstract style. Her art education includes the Victoria College of Art, Art School Victoria, and the Metchosin International Summer School of Arts.

Painting is a way of relaxation for Jan. It provides an avenue to focus her time and energy. Often painting at her retreat in Lake Cowichan, the water, fresh air, and nature provide a tranquil environment for her work. With each journey, Jan discovers intensity, feelings and light on her canvases.

Jan's paintings have appeared at the Legacy Art Gallery, Goward House and in Jiang Men, China. Jan was born and raised in Victoria. She is one of the few people with a leap year birthday - February 29^th.
