Jeanette is a
self-taught artist who has expanded her knowledge through local courses and workshops in Victoria. She
didn't start her art career until a few years ago when she found she was drawn to paint in oils. Her
garden is her primary inspiration for many of her realistic paintings.
She has shown work in Sooke and SPAC Juried Art Shows and won Jurors awards in the Saanich Peninsula Art and
Craft Show in 2005 and 2007. This year she won a Patron's award for her West Coast painting of the
'Ocean at Tofino'. She has shown at the Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria Gallery, Ministry
of Health, Saanich City Hall and many smaller venues around Victoria.
Jeanette prefers to work in oil because it is the the perfect medium allowing her freedom to expand and
change her subject. Flowers are her favorite subject because they engender a feeling of peacefulness and
spirituality and represent the beauty of nature. She paints a variety of other subjects including portraits
and landscapes.
