Anne Millar
I was born, grew up and live in Victoria, British Columbia. I became interested in crafts at a very early age,
creating Shell pictures and jewellery along with many other crafts. My mother became interested in Ceramics and
China Painting and passed along that interest to me.
I had the opportunity to delve into Porcelain art in 1977 when a teacher came to Victoria three or four times a
year to teach. I was introduced to Porcelain Artists of the Great Northwest (PAGN) and attended their school
every two years from 1979 – 1999. It was a wonderful experience and I took classes with many great
teachers.
I was a member of International Porcelain Artists and Teachers, Porcelain Artists of the Great North West and
the World Organization of China Painters for many years, and was a founding member of the local club, The
Dogwood Porcelain Painters.
I started painting in the Medium of Water Colour in 2000 and find that I bring a lot of my Porcelain Art
techniques to this art form. As well, I now bring water colour techniques to my Porcelain Art. It is very
rewarding.
