Elizabeth Parnis

The Artist

Brush Painting: The simple presentation of a subject and the empty space in the composition, leaves a window open for the imagination to reach into the essence of the subject. This is what appeals to me in Chinese Brush painting. The strokes speak of the place of mankind in the grandueur of nature, the perfection of flowers, the vitality of birds and insects.

Elizabeth began brush painting in 1979, and studied in Ontario with several Chinese masters. She eventually taught this form of Art for seven years. She is a founding member of the Sumie Society of Ontario and has exhibited in Canada, Japan and China. She has been in several Juried shows in Ontario and British Colombia.
