Artistic expression has always been part of my life. Over the years I began collecting
quotations and words that relate to my past and present life experiences and put them
into my art as reminders. It has become clear to me that no two days are willing to
express themselves in the same language or light. Each new work with its textures and
layers of hidden emotion is approached as an adventure. I use many different skills
from hand lettering, to painting, to collage …. each piece challenges me to enter new
and exciting forms of expression. I love what I do and have been sharing my knowledge
with students through classes and workshops where I can encourage personal experience
and artistic expression to come together in art.
Kathy was born in Northern Ontario, Canada, and in the late 1970’s moved West in search
of the last of the wild frontier. Her formal education in graphic design and the
lettering arts has led to creating mixed media pieces using layers of words and
colours begging the viewer to take a closer look. She continues to develop her work
by attending workshops and through personal experimentation. Connecting with other
artists in the community through exhibits and instructing art classes and workshops
is also an important part of her artistic journey.
