Birds were first fascinating to me when I saw an indigo bunting as a teenager. Birding (it was “bird-watching” when I started) has been a pursuit ever since. I began photographing them with a film camera. When the digital age began and I acquired a camera with a fairly high resolution and a 100-400 zoom lens with a stabilizer, I became obsessed with photographing birds and any other wildlife that got in the way. The Okanagan and Columbia Valleys are favorite places to find subjects, but nothing tops the mystic-ponds area and Cadboro Bay. I have settled on dry mounting and laminating ink-jet prints as a way to present the photographs.
