A show featuring the works of the Mother-Daughter Duo of Mary and Laura Brackenbury. 'Click' on an artist's portrait to view her work.
Mary Brackenbury: "I have always been a leisure painter, but apart from taking a few courses, waited until I took early retirement from teaching to take formal training. After earning my fine arts credentials at the University of Alberta I moved to Victoria where I usually paint the landscapes around my home near Elk/Beaver Lake. I have had four solo showings of my work and am represented in collections in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. My paintings reflect the semi-abstract viewpoint with which I am most comfortable. It is indeed a pleasure to exhibit with my daughter, whose photographs inform much of my work."
Laura Brackenbury: "I began taking photographs in elementary school when I was given my first 35 mm camera and have been taking photos ever since. Still a fiercely proud proponent of film and never far from my Minolta SLR, I will admit to becoming more accepting of the improvement in digital camera technology. While the majority of my images contain landscapes, I find immense joy in the challenge of capturing the movement and beauty of sport and dance when afforded the opportunity. This is my second show and is again shared with the grace of my mother's paintings with whom I share the passion of capturing moments and feelings. The images in this show are primarily from Victoria and perhaps, a bit beyond."
