Sandra's watercolours, oils and acrylics often reflect her love of the B.C. coast, where she lives and works in her floathome studio at Fisherman's Wharf. However, many of her paintings are inspired by ancient European passageways, incorporating acrylic metallics, oils, and gold leaf.
Her approach varies to suit the subject and the impression she wishes to express to the viewer, so some pieces are loosely painted, while others are finely detailed. Whatever the subject or style, most of her work is characterized by the expressive qualities of light and shadow.
Sandra has been painting in Victoria for twenty-seven years. Her work has included illustration, murals, and exhibit art at the Royal B.C. Museum.
She enjoys teaching children and adults at Commonwealth Place, the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre, and at her studio.
Her originals are currently exhibited at the Dianna Bottoms Gallery in Santa Barbara, at her gallery at Fisherman's Wharf, and the Mercurio Gallery in Victoria. Sandra can be contacted at: 250-385-9599, or sandraritter555@hotmail.com. Please visit her website: www/sandraritter.com.
